How to Make the Trip to the Vet Hospital Fear Free
- Please keep your cats hungry by feeding them less than usual. It will help make them more food-motivated and make treats/food more efficient as stress-reducing tools during vet visits.
- Make sure to get a proper cat carrier. We recommend ones with top-opening or easily openable lids. It’s also important to get a sturdy one so that they feel more secure in the carrier. Covering the carrier with a towel also helps your cat feel less vulnerable.
- Place your cat carrier where your cats spend the most throughout the day. Spraying Feliway on the carrier and placing a towel with your cats’ scent inside will also be helpful.
- For cats who become extremely fearful and stressed, anti-anxiety or calming medication can make veterinary visits significantly less stressful.
- Place your cat carrier on the vehicle’s floor behind the passenger seat and cover the carrier with a towel. If that’s not possible, please make sure to buckle the cat carrier securely.
- Avoid being rushed by budgeting plenty of time. Cats are sensitive. They can pick up on the owner’s stress.
Also, please bring your cat in a cat carrier for your cat’s safety. We may refuse our services if a cat is brought without a carrier. Thank you so much for your understanding.
