How to Make the Trip to the Vet Hospital Fear Free

  1. Please keep your cats hungry by feeding them less than usual. It will help make them more food-motivated and make treats/food more efficient as stress-reducing tools during vet visits.
  2. Make sure to get a proper cat carrier. We recommend ones with top-opening or easily openable lids. It’s also important to get a sturdy one so that they feel more secure in the carrier. Covering the carrier with a towel also helps your cat feel less vulnerable.
  3. Place your cat carrier where your cats spend the most throughout the day. Spraying Feliway on the carrier and placing a towel with your cats’ scent inside will also be helpful.
  4. For cats who become extremely fearful and stressed, anti-anxiety or calming medication can make veterinary visits significantly less stressful.
  5. Place your cat carrier on the vehicle’s floor behind the passenger seat and cover the carrier with a towel. If that’s not possible, please make sure to buckle the cat carrier securely.
  6. Avoid being rushed by budgeting plenty of time. Cats are sensitive. They can pick up on the owner’s stress.

Also, please bring your cat in a cat carrier for your cat’s safety. We may refuse our services if a cat is brought without a carrier. Thank you so much for your understanding.
